“You have probably all heard this story about goal setting

The story, as told by consultants, goes like this: In 1953, researchers surveyed Yale’s graduating seniors to determine how many of them had specific, written goals for their future. The answer: 3%. Twenty years later, researchers polled the surviving members of the Class of 1953 — and found that the 3% with goals had accumulated more personal financial wealth than the other 97% of the class combined!

Whether true or not the importance of goal setting in your MLM business is irrefutable…

You’ve probably heard the phrase: failing to plan is planning to fail.

This applies to every aspect in life and very much so in your network marketing business.

The secret key to network marketing and MLM goal setting is to be SMART, where:-

S = Specific

T = Timely

When you take a far reaching goal and break it down to specific tasks, your goal setting becomes very clear and accurate about what you are going to do. When you measure your progress, you stay on track and reach your target dates within a time frame. With that you will know for your self whether your goals are realistic and attainable.

In network marketing and MLM goal setting, you must also have a long-term goal and short-term goals. Your long-term goal is what you ultimately want to achieve. Whether it is to have a six figure income or to build an organization of 10,000 people, your long-term goal is the ultimate destination where you will be.

Make sure you visualize your goals and make them as specific as possible. Many people create vision boards where they not only write them down but also create a picture board of their goals…You need to share your goals with those close to you. Put yourself out there and tell people your intentions

Your short-term goals on the other hand is ‘how’ you will achieve your long-term goal. This is where you devise a map in extreme detail and accuracy, where you break down your monthly goals into weekly goals and break down further your weekly goals into daily goals. You will need to figure out your daily marketing tasks and how many new prospects you need to generate in order to achieve your ultimate success.

Have your long-term goal to keep you motivated. Know that it is there and plan your daily marketing tasks to bring you closer to it. Focus, be consistent and persistent. Spend time on your network marketing and MLM goal setting. This will bring you a lot of clarity and aspiration to acquire your ultimate success.

Treat your MLM business as if you just invested 100K in a franchise. If you treat it like a business and set your goals while frequently monitoring your progress and making the appropriate tweaks as needed…you will be successful and realize your goals and dreams.

- Ambit Energy is working to facilitate self-employment opportunities for U.S. veterans recently home from Iraq and Afghanistan through participation in the “Self-Employment Opportunities for U.S. Veterans” campaign, sponsored by RJ Yanni & Associates, a consulting firm out of New York. Should this fundraising campaign be successful, it will provide subsidies to veterans to start their own, independent businesses with either Ambit Energy or FamilyIQ, a human services company. The campaign’s goal is to raise $75,000 in first-round financing to help veterans with the start-up costs of these businesses, from which up to 1,000 veterans per month will be able to enroll as independent registered agents of either company for the next year.

- Scentsy has introduced a new brand, Velata, featuring a patent-pending silicone dish on an electric warmer paired with Belgian chocolate to create a fondue experience. The new brand will be available in North America in May 2012. The company also announced it is extending its flagship Scentsy Wickless brand to include Layers by Scentsy, through which customers can build a signature scent, and has introduced customizable scented greeting cards that can be purchased and mailed through an online store called Sincerely Scent. Layers by Scentsy and Sincerely Scent will be available to customers in North America beginning in March 2012.

These two new announcements from Avant could be the game changer among Top tier companies competing for a very tight be lucrative pool of sales and marketing talent. Their new funding program and the car program seems to put them at the forefront of their niche.

There has been a rumor running across the internet stating Robert Dean Jr. and T.O.P.G.U.N. has been terminated by The Limu Company. Well I reached out to Gary Raser the founder of TLC, and he confirmed Robert Dean Jr. and T.O.P.G.U.N. had not been terminated, but Robert Dean Jr. and about 30 other T.O.P.G.U.N. members had been suspended as per the Limu P&Ps, as the investigation continues on the rumors that Robert Dean Jr. and T.O.P.G.U.N. has joined Momentis Energy, the marketing arm of Just Energy out of Canada.

Update Jan 25th 2012 7:13 pm – Rober Dean has contacted me and we will be talking next week so he can give me his side of this situation.

Ted Nuyten broke the story with the headline “Top Earner Robert Dean Terminated by Limu Company?”

Ted, did not take the time to vet the info, but went directly to publishing the information.

Ty Tribble, took a little diffeent approach when we wrote “Robert Dean Terminated From Limu Company?”

Ty dug a little deeper to show that Robert Dean has a deep track record of jumping from company to company.

What is interesting is in August 2011, at the official launch of T.O.P.G.U.N. and Robert Dean Jr. at Limu here is what was written.

“Nothing could have prepared us for the wild ride that was the official Top Gun Launch in Atlanta this past weekend. Hosted by 100K powerhouse and industry expert Robert Dean, it was an honest-to-goodness thrill ride, from Friday night’s standing-room-only opportunity meeting (with over 50% as guests!) to a barrage of specially-designed 20K rings being handed out to highly informative training after training and more. LIMU President Gary Raser was on hand, too, as were Vice President of Business Development Ryan Barson and Vice President of Marketing, Kerry Brown, all sharing their collective vision of the company’s future, one that looks very vibrant, indeed. 500K Members Shannon and Rachette Pardue were there as well, sharing positive words of support. When I did a Google search on “Robert Dean Leaves” here is what I found:

Momentis Energy, the marketing arm of Just Energy is making a very risky move for such a young company, and could see what small amount of momentum they have enjoyed dwindle, especially if they are hit with regulator issues because this new team is too zealous in promoting the business and the opportunity.

What is also very interesting about this issue, is Robert Dean always uses the same excuses for leaving a former company “There is no money”. Well he just jumped into a sector where the residual income is very low, and the majority of the money earned is from building the network.

If he didn’t think $1 million dollars in 10 months at Limu was enough, then it makes me wonder where he will jump next?

Direct Selling Association Member Company News!

Investor’s Business Daily recently named its “Best of 2011,” a list of top 100 companies of 2011 based on stock performance. Blyth, parent company to DSA member PartyLite came in at number 41, Nu Skin at number 51, Herbalife at number 84 and Kirby at number 90.

PartyLite is planning the construction of a £1 million storage facility in the U.K., to be completed later this year. It will be built alongside the existing 9,400 square meter factory that was built there in 1997.

Tahitian Noni announced it will officially change its name in the U.S. to Morinda this April at its International Leadership Conference in Salt Lake City. Its new tagline will be Bioactives. John Wadsworth stated, “The new name stays true to our noni roots (since Morinda citrifolia is the scientific name for noni), while broad enough to capture the new bioactives vision. The name Morinda symbolizes everything that this company represents—past, present and future.”

The millennials—the first generation to come of age in the 21st century—are also known as Generation Y, or simply Gen Y, because they follow on the heels of Generation X. Whatever you call them, they now comprise the entire 18- to 32-year-old young professional demographic.

This group is easily the most important marketing concern to come along in decades, and by 2017 their spending is expected to surpass that of the boomers. As Jason Dorsey, The Gen Y Guy® speaker and consultant, points out concerning his generation, “We are the opportunity!”

Entrepreneurs tend to emerge more from the ranks of the young than from those who are older, and with good reason. There’s all that vim and vigor of youth. New Beauty magazine released its second-annual 2011 New Beauty Choice Awards. Nu Skin’s ageLOC Future Serum was named “The Best Anti-Wrinkle Serum” and Proactiv, a three-step anti-acne product from Rodan + Fields Dermatologists, was named “The Best Overall Acne Fighter”. New Beauty magazine recognizes the best products in the health and beauty industry and winners are determined by the votes of thousands of New Beauty magazine readers, as well as top beauty experts and the editors of New Beauty.

Neways has officially launched its new Korean office, showroom, products and business opportunity. The company is also moving forward with preparations to open in Thailand later this year.

Nu Skin has broken ground on its new Greater China Innovation Park in Shanghai, China. The approximately $50 million, state-of-the-art complex will serve as the headquarters for the Greater China region and feature anti-aging research and development laboratories, as well as manufacturing facilities, meeting spaces and green areas.

Primerica announced it will host approximately 5,000 of its current and prospective independent representatives at the Metro Toronto Convention Center this weekend. This meeting will be the first of six events across Canada in 2012.

Scentsy’s Charitable Cause Program recently donated stuffed animals to pediatric patients at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria, Calif., in an effort to provide the children with a brighter Christmas. The company’s Charitable Cause Program selects two charitable causes each year to support and sells a Scentsy product to benefit them.

Shure Pets has suspended its direct selling business. The company will continue to process orders and arrange for shipment through the end of January 2012.

U Design Jewelry is teaming up with the Super Basket of Hope program and the 2012 Super Bowl by donating 7,000 “Hope Necklaces.” The necklaces will be included in baskets given to critically ill children and families at hospitals in each of America’s 32 NFL cities, and are delivered by NFL team players, coaches, alumni and other regional volunteers.

USANA recently announced Olympic Pro Snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis and Alpine Skier Nolan Kasper as its newest brand ambassadors. Both athletes are members of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), with which USANA announced a partnership last year. As brand ambassadors, Jacobellis and Kasper will represent the company publicly and help educate consumers about the value and importance of using supplements that are safe, effective and manufactured to the highest quality.

XANGO recently partnered with Operation Smile Foundation to provide 100 free surgeries to correct the cleft lips and palates of children in the Tak Mae Sot district of Thailand. The young patients were the children of farmers who grow mangosteen, the source of XANGO’s success.

Part 1 – College Students Look to Direct Selling for Income, Business Experience

Each generation of Americans finds value in different aspects of direct selling. Boomers, for example, like the fact that direct selling can provide post-retirement security. The Gen-Y crowd likes the fact that in direct selling they can be their own boss. Today’s college students—those who will be the next generation to enter the workforce—are no exception. In an ever-changing socioeconomic environment this segment of the population is key to building and maintaining a successful enterprise. Part 2 – Post-Retirement Generation Fulfills Unique Role in Direct Selling

While many generations of Americans have turned to direct selling for income, flexible scheduling, networking and a one-of-a-kind business opportunity, one generation that benefits from the direct sales channel also provides the industry with a unique level of experience, expertise and people skills: the post-retirement generation.

According to the DSA-commissioned report, “U.S. Consumer Trends Impacting the Direct Selling Industry,” issued by GfK Roper Consulting earlier this year, many Americans who have reached retirement age have looked to direct selling for opportunities to earn extra income and remain active in their communities. In fact, according to the Direct Selling Association’s 2008 National Salesforce Survey Report, 22 percent of the direct salesforce is comprised of individuals 55 years or older. Part 3 – Gen Y Emerges as the Latest Face of Direct Selling

In 2010, the Pew Research Center estimated 37 percent of 18-29 year-olds have been underemployed or out of work during the recession, the highest share among the age group in more than 30 years. While in the United States alone, the total number of Gen-Yers—those born from 1980 through 1992—has reached more than 70 million people, in recent years, much of the Gen-Y population (also known as Millennials) has turned to direct selling for many reasons beyond financial need. Part 4 – Military Community Takes on Unique Role in Direct Selling

As the effects of the economic downturn continue to impact the U.S. job market, direct selling companies can look to one demographic in particular to provide the industry with a unique, far-reaching network of potential recruits and customers, an invaluable determination to succeed and a propensity to establish teams across many regions simultaneously: the military community.

According to a report issued earlier this year by the Military Community and Family Policy office at the Pentagon, the unemployment rate for military spouses stands at 26 percent, despite the fact that 80 to 85 percent of military spouses are actively seeking employment. Additionally, the DSA-commissioned report, “U.S. Consumer Trends Impacting the Direct Selling Industry,” issued earlier this year by GfK Roper Consulting, predicts that over the next decade a decline in traditional employment and an increase in access to entrepreneurial education will lead to a rise in small businesses and expanded participation in direct selling—a trend military spouses are uniquely positioned to take advantage of. Part 5 – Through Direct Selling, Mompreneurs Establish a Unique Level of Trust with Consumers

Countless men and women of all demographics have shaped the direct sales channel throughout the years, but today’s “Mompreneurs” not only embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and empowerment that characterize direct selling, they also contribute a level of credibility that resonates with consumers and field members alike. What’s more, they bring access to a network of consumers that offers tremendous buying potential.

Pixingo Rocking With New Online Photo & Greeting Card Network Marketing Business

MonaVie has announced they will launch MonaVie 2.0 on January 13th & 14th 2012. Given the fact they have hired Jeff Cohen as their new CMO, I have a feeling 2012 will be an eventful year for the MonaVie reps.

Another piece of news surrounding MonaVie is their new focus on compliance. Over the last few years regulators and critics have hit MonaVie hard for not reprimanding reps for the sometimes outrageous health claims. And having read some of these claims, and seeing the 3rd party lab tests on the juice, I can see why the feds were very upset.

I find this one more positive step Dallin Larsen and his team are taking to make sure they do not go the way of other network marketing rising stars, like Sea Silver, or Burn Lounge.

I also found some additional information about Mr. Brett Hudson, that causes concerns that he is focused long term on the TCN or the welfare of the distributors.

Seems he is also running his own business in the real estate investment industry called Nouveau Riche. However, the phone number he lists on the website goes to an adult (sex toys & marital aids) party plan company.

Now without a doubt there is a change the 800 number Brett lists on the site is no longer owned by him. In which case, he should take down the website, or at the very least update the information.

The following Press Release was also on the site showing that in August (not sure what year) Brett was still soliciting people for his business.

I received information last week that FHTM had settled, but waited until Patrick reported on this situation. Patrick is one of the best reporters on this type of situation, and I felt as an advocate for network marketing I might comes across to biased to give a fair opinion. I flat out hate it when companies, especially DSA member companies put their field force at risk in these situations!

MLM Firm Fortune High-Tech Marketing (FHTM) Agrees To Refund Up To $1.3 Million To Texas Customers Amid Pyramid Allegations — But Don’t Delay If You’re Only Learning About The Agreement Today

“Fortune High-Tech Marketing Inc. (FHTM), the Kentucky-based MLM firm that has caught the attention of multiple state regulators, has agreed to pay Texas customers up to $1.3 million in refunds, the office of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said.

But do not tarry if you’re a Texas resident and believe you were ripped off by the firm. Although Abbott’s office formally announced the refund program yesterday, the deadline for filing a claim is Nov. 28 — only 12 days from now.

Here is a PDF the claim form, which Abbott’s office says must be submitted to FHTM. In an “Assurance of Voluntary Compliance” between FHTM and Texas (signed in July), the address for the firm is listed as 880 Corporate Drive, Suite 300, Lexington, Kentucky 40503…”
