Is MonaVie Presidential Black Diamond Orrin Woodward Really A Servant Leader

Well, what do you think… Is MonaVie Presidential Black Diamond Orrin Woodward really a servant leader? If you are not sure then watch this video, then read some of what I found as I did the research for this leadership article on Orrin Woodward.

I first met Orrin late last year after I wrote a series of critical posts on Orrin’s move from Amway to MonaVie. And after reading his book, talking with him and some of his team, reading piles of court documents, I came to the realization that Orrin cares more for his team, than anything but his Lord and his family.

Now, before you go nuts and think I am going to write about his massive rise to the top of Monavie, you’re wrong. What I am going to look at in this article is his core belief system on Servant Leadership.

With Orrin it did not start with the release of “Launching A Leadership Revolution”, nope, it all started when he realized “everyone is called upon to be a leader in some capacity at a certain point in their lives.”

And between you and me, I think if he had not teamed up with Chris Brady (the funny man of the dynamic duo), he might not have gotten as far as he has.

OK, maybe he would have, but what he realized is, that by teaming up with his long time friend Chris Brady, they complemented each other’s weaknesses and over the last decade of so, they have not only seen their dreams come true, they have helped hundreds of others reach some of theirs also.

I’m not just talking about money earned, I’m talking about watching people pay off debt, send their kids to school, remodel their homes, go on dream vacations and most of all, give to their favorite social justice causes.

Now, Orrin Woodward, is not without controversy, or his own short comings. His departure from Amway, caused long term relationships to get stretched to new levels, and in some cases become a distant memory.

And even today, you can find people who will not agree with me, on my opinion of Orrin.

In so many ways he reminds me of one of my most respected mentors, Art Williams. When Art was building his company he became one of the most controversial figures in business history, especially in the life insurance industry. But, some 35 years later the company he build on Servant Leadership Principles still stands today. As a matter of fact “We The People” Own 80% of it’s parent company Citi Group. The company is Primerica. Art went on to become one of a handful of billionaires form Network Marketing, and is still controversial.

Orrin has his same passion for giving others the ability to see their dreams come true.

Here are a few links to Orrin’s articles, book and charity.

  4. I was in Amway in 1980. It is not for everyone. Thank goodness the internet allows anyone to come up with an idea and present it to the millions of web surfers to find folks who are interested in their idea. Mr Kiyosaki was correct in saying that starting a business is the best way accumulate wealth. Warren Buffet suggested that you only need one good business idea to get you on your way to wealth.

I love the idea that the leadership of team gave up a sure income under quixtar/amway for a better future for smaller distributers and giving them a better chance with Monavie. So far I believe it has worked out tremendously and frankly, it doesn't matter to me or my wife if we ever get a new product or service introduced thru mv or any other entity. Truth be told, we have a great product line, great pay program and great leadership on the system side and business side. Thank you for your leadership and sacrifice for our sake, Orrin, Chris, Tim, George, Bill, Claude, Kirk, Jim, Doug, I guess I could go on and on!

With all due respect to Ms. Hansen's post. The TEAM media system explained specifically the future in regards to building the "Wal-Mart" of the internet. There's a specific intent to that informational system that's been put in place. If you're not getting this media, which by the way is exclusive to TEAM, of course you don't understand what's happening and why. The first CD to come out after the partnership with MonaVie explains something called a "riverbed" change. Something you and I really would have no clue about, however, Orrin Woodward does. He hides nothing, infact, he's almost too honest. We are in different times and the correct steps need to be taken to ensure the future. Alot is riding on the decisions made today and there isn't a better visionary than Orrin Woodward to do that. You can doubt him now, but, I am 100% certain, you'll be thanking him later. He's earned that!

Orrin didn't lie. He simply gave a vision of where the Team can and WILL go. He has always been VERY clear that the vision is one million lives changed through the community regardless of what product supplier we are affiliated with at one time or another. Although Orrin didn't say how long it would take whether or not he knew at the time, he did say that this was going to be a long process and nothing would come to fruition overnight. (I have a recording of him saying that well before he teamed up with MV as a product supplier.)

IMHO Orrin did a fantastic job of giving us the best information he was legally allowed to say under court order at the time and had no intentions of misleading anyone. Sorry if you feel misled, but I always thought it was very clear that one million people was the goal, and "Wal-Mart of the Internet" was a long term target.

      This is funny.

Are you telling me all you have to say is "ever heard of spell check? jeez…" LOL… Not bad for an incomplete past tense sentence.

      • I think Mike referred to Susan's letter when he pointed out her spelling mistakes.
I just want to say to Susan that it is always easy pointing to someone, my question is what did you, Susan did making Team a success? Was there any contribution from your part, or you simple were waiting for success to drop into your lap?
We all need to accept personal responsibility for our actions.

      Susan,

I never hold back comments. I was out of town Volunteering at the Catalyst Leadership Conference. With 13K young leaders in attendance I am sure you understand the time restraints.

My family and volunteer work at Catalyst always take priority over everything else.

I thimk orrin and Chris did do alot of good–but they still lied–they said team was going to become the wal-mart of the internet and that is why alot of people joined and then in the end Orrin admitted that would take 20 years or more. So he always knew how long it would take and never told –everything was always vague.

    • troydooly says:

      Susan,

We love open and honest opinions expressed here at MLM Help Desk. I do have a few questions.

      1. When you say "TEAM was going to be the next Wal-Mart of the internet." was that when you all were at Amway or when TEAM left Amway?
      2. How do you come to the conclusion that Orrin and Chris knew all along it would take 20 years? I do not ask this to belittle what you wrote. I ask it from a personal experience I want to share. I have a mentor and good friend who owned an MLM company, and he told us "We are going to dominate the Mortgage and Real Estate business." We were well on our way, until September of 2008, when the market crashed." His track record like Orrin's was rock solid and up till that moment he truly believed as we all did, we would dominate.

However, he could not control the market, just like Orrin could not control the market. So I just wonder, if in the case of TEAM, the Economy also played into where they are today? maybe when the market corrects itself, that Orrin, Chris and TEAM may still hit their benchmarks.

You will know these answers better than I.

    Troy,

I have worked with both Orrin and Chris for five years now and can say they are true servant leaders. These guys are successful businessmen in many different areas and really understand the complex dynamics within the networking industry which is why they have had such incredible success in this arena.

Orrin and Chris are really passionate about making a difference in the world and have done a great job utilizing their national best selling book, Launching A Leadership Revolution, as a way to support charities nationwide and to help inspire true character based leadership in business which is what our country really needs right now. It is exciting to be able to support them and their efforts and I know the best is yet to come. Thank you for highlighting them on your site.

Bob Dickies last blog post..Why does the gold standard promote economic freedom?

  12. Troy, Thank you for the kind words. I am indebted to so many incredible teammates that make me better by association. Chris Brady has so many creative gifts that I would run out of space sharing them all. The key trait that I am thankful for in all of the top leaders is their character to do the right thing, because it is the right thing. Troy, you are leading with character and that is why God has blessed your life. Keep up the great work and keep serving the greater MLM community! thanks, Orrin
